A key event in the field of cybersecurity in Poland is behind us!
The ATS 2024 conference took place on November 13-15 in Warsaw. Its main theme was “Industry in the shadow of regulation – in search of balance”, and the focus was on the challenges related to regulations such as NIS2 and DORA and their impact on the digital security sector. The event, one of the largest in the cybersecurity industry, attracted the attention of over 500 participants. The key conclusions and topics from the lectures and discussion panels and the mutual exchange of experiences will remain an important message both as a summary of the current year and as an agenda of challenges for the next year.
New EU regulations such as NIS2 significantly affect companies and institutions, forcing them to rethink their compliance and risk management strategies. Discussions were held on how to maintain a balance between legal requirements and common sense in business. Cybersecurity has ceased to be a technological niche, becoming an integral part of business strategies. Speakers emphasized the need to develop leaders’ abilities to integrate security into the overall goals of their organizations, including metrics such as KPIs. There was also room for AI and cloud security issues. Attention was drawn to the challenges and opportunities related to SOC (Security Operations Center) automation and security in multi-cloud and containerized environments.
AZ Frame once again acted as a conference Partner, this time standing alongside the PENTERA technology brand. To the great interest of the participants, we presented an innovative tool for attack surface verification and comprehensive IT infrastructure security diagnostics. On the last day, taking into account the evolution and development of mature cyber threat management and increasing awareness of how important resilience to digital threats is today, especially in the context of the increasing scale of cyberattacks against organizations, we led, with the participation of PENTERA experts, an online workshop – for over 60 people – demonstrating a live attack on the IT environment. The main slogan was “Attack simulation is not reality! Taste is more than just imagination, stop simulating, start verifying!”. The most important premises of our meeting were as follows:
-
actual verification of the attack surface is the basis for conducting a proper cybersecurity strategy.
-
over 60% of attacks are carried out with compromised credentials, where the attacker is already inside the organization.
-
how can vulnerabilities in the IT infrastructure be exposed to risk, how can configuration errors and user errors be exploited?
-
the questions “How quickly can an attacker be identified? How quickly can they be stopped? How far can an attacker go?” will always remain relevant.
Participating in such an important event for both industry leaders and people responsible for security, both in corporations and public institutions, was a great opportunity for us to exchange experiences and talk about best practices. We would like to thank all participants for participating, and our interlocutors for the joint meetings.
